2027 Hyundai Kona
2027 Hyundai Kona
The 2027 Hyundai Kona is a compact crossover offered in Canada in five trims: Essential, Preferred, Preferred Trend, Luxury and N Line Ultimate. Four of them use a 2.0 L four-cylinder, and the N Line adds a 1.6 L turbocharged four-cylinder with 190 hp. Front-wheel drive is offered on the two entry trims, while the other three come with all-wheel drive.
Every trim seats five, carries a 12.3-inch touchscreen display audio system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and includes a dual-level cargo floor. Cargo space measures 723 L behind the rear seats. For Ontario drivers who split their week between 400-series commutes and weekend getaways, the Kona’s compact footprint and 47 L to 50 L fuel tanks are the numbers that matter most. The sections below cover the design, technology, powertrains and trim lineup.
What’s new on the 2027 Hyundai Kona?

Exterior
The Kona’s styling changes with the trim. The Preferred and up add roof rails and rear privacy glass, and the Preferred Trend and Luxury add dark grey body cladding with chrome window belt moulding. Full-line LED daytime running lights and LED turn signals inside the headlights and taillights appear on the Luxury and N Line. The N Line takes the sportiest approach. It has its own front bumper fascia and grille, a rear bumper with diffuser, N Line emblems on the grille and fender, and body-coloured cladding. A two-tone body colour is available on this trim only. The Kona measures 4,350 mm long on the Luxury and Preferred Trend, 1,825 mm wide and 1,610 mm tall, on a 2,660 mm wheelbase. The N Line is slightly longer at 4,385 mm. Wheels grow with the trim: 17-inch aluminum on the Essential, 18-inch on the Preferred, Preferred Trend and Luxury, and 19-inch on the N Line.AWD trims sit 205 mm off the ground, the N Line 210 mm, and FWD versions 170 mm. That clearance helps on the unplowed side streets and snowbelt stretches that show up across Ontario once winter settles in.

Interior
The cabin steps up through the lineup. Cloth seats are standard on the Essential and Preferred, leatherette on the Preferred Trend and Luxury, and leather and suede combination seats with red accents and stitching on the N Line. The N Line also adds metal sport pedals, door scuff plates and paddle shifters. Front seats are heated on every trim, and the Luxury adds an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support. The Preferred adds a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Preferred Trend brings dual-zone automatic climate control, and the Luxury and N Line add 64-colour ambient lighting. The N Line is the only trim with ventilated front seats. The Kona seats five, with front leg room of 1,059 mm and rear leg room of 970 mm. Hip room measures 1,378 mm in front and 1,330 mm in the back. The rear seat splits 60/40, and the dual-level cargo floor adds flexibility. Cargo volume is 723 L with the rear seats up and 1,803 L with them folded, enough for a weekend of luggage without leaving the rear seat unusable. Two USB-C outlets sit in front and two more in the rear.
